Small plates, long nights,and nobody rushing the table.

He was a man who read too many books about knights and decided to become one. Everyone told him the giants were windmills. He rode out anyway. Four hundred years later we opened a room on Bradford Street with the same operating principle.

  • A bowl of gambas al ajillo, prawns in a paprika-red garlic sauce, with two pieces of grilled bread standing in it, and a citrus-rimmed cocktail on the table behind.

    Tapas

  • A paella pan of saffron rice with mussels, prawns and lemon wedges, on a table against exposed brick with a small Spanish flag and red roses behind it.

    Large Plates

  • Thick-cut French toast under whipped cream, strawberries, blackberries and mint, dusted with icing sugar on a pale plate.

    Desserts

  • An espresso martini in a coupe with three coffee beans on the foam, white gypsophila, a red rose and a small Spanish flag on the table behind it.

    Drinks

  • La Bella Benedict: poached eggs under hollandaise on toasted bread, dusted with paprika and set beside a dressed salad.
